topsy turvy tomatoes

02 July 2009 | By Carole in Uncategorized | No Comments Yet

My tomatoes are growing and doing well. I still don’t have any fruit, but they are at least living. I am hoping that I get something decent.
Once again though you have to make sure that you have them in a really stable place because the topsy turvy hangers get really heavy when watered.
I know that next time I will try to make my own instead of buying the planters. I just succumbed to the ad and the buy one get one free gimmick.

O.k. so I fell for the ad and I went and ordered a topsy-turvey tomato planter.  Well, the tomatoes went in two days ago and so far so good.  I will keep you up to date on how the whole contraption works.

It was easy to do, it’s just that I didn’t realize how heavy they would be once they were filled with dirt, plants and water.  WOW.

I know have a three pronged shepherd’s hook with two hooks holding tomato plants and one holding two large wound up hoses.  I need the hoses for balance.  It is white trash at its finest.

Ready or not, let’s garden

This is one of those days where I really don’t have anything to write about.  I’m always trying to find something interesting to blog about , but sometimes I just come up dry.  I lead a pretty normal life and I don’t really do anything super exciting.  It’s go to work, go home, walk the dogs, watch some DVR’d stuff and make dinner. Oh wait, very exciting, last night I had a MGD 64 calorie beer.  It was right after I took an hour bike ride to try and reduce the size of my behind. Right now it’s the same size, but really how much can one bike ride accomplish.

Summerfest is here soon.  I will be taking my daughter to see Bon Jovi. I mean why not It’s my life right.  There are a few more acts on different stages that I want to see, but we’ll see how many days I can get down there.

State Fair is coming up.  Bring on the chocolate covered bacon.  Every year they find something to put on stick and I am sooooo glad that this year it’s chocolate covered bacon. GENIUS

This weekend is the Blues Festival in Elkhart Lake.  If you need a little getaway that is not that far you should try it.  It is really a beautiful little place to go. There is a lake, music, tiki bars and great restaurants.   If you do make the time, let me know. I’d love to hear what you think.

Other than that, it’s time to start thinking about what the heck to make for dinner.  Ahhhh the good life.

generosity

16 June 2009 | By Carole in Uncategorized | No Comments Yet

I want to thank the people of Southeastern Wisconsin for their extreme generosity. I am always blown away by the way people rally to help those less fortunate and even though times may be tough, they find it in their hearts to step it up.
It is so easy to become cynical and wary, but it takes special people to get past that and understand when people need help.
I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support during the Miracle Marathon and I am again overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for the TY M.P.D day happening this weekend.
I want to congratulate you on being decent hardworking people. You are the ones that make it easy to get up each day and face what sometimes can be tough. I know that all of you have cares and concerns of your own, but you get it.
I may not know all of you by name, but I am richer for knowing that you are there.
Thank you

graduation

28 May 2009 | By Carole in Uncategorized | No Comments Yet

Remember how exciting it was to graduate and be ready to be out in the world and working, making a living for yourself and loving life?  I do and I want to go back.  I’m tired.  Seriously, I’m tired.  I love my job and the people I work with so why is it so hard to get up in the morning? Could it be that I’m just getting a little older? NAH I won’t believe it. I am just as young and spry as I used to be right? Ha!

Really, I want to congratulate all of this years high school and college graduates.  It is a tremendous accomplishment.  Now, get out there and work. I’m tired.

helping out

18 May 2009 | By Carole in Uncategorized | No Comments Yet

I was out downtown last week when I ran into someone who wanted to talk about the Miracle Marathon.  You see this man had just had his child admitted to Children’s Hospital and he wanted to tell me that this year he would be donating during the marathon.  I was saddened by the man’s story, but pleased with his decision to help out.  That kind of thing happens a lot.

There are many people, who through no fault of their own, don’t understand how great Children’s Hospital is. They are forced to accept the fact after they become personally involved with the building and its employees.  I understand that completely. Life is busy and we are all busy in it.  We live each day in our worlds and if someone elses’s world intersects great.

Please don’t wait for your life to be directly affected, donate now and insure this hospital will continue to be our Children’s Hospital.  Our Miracle Marathon starts on Wednesday and continues through Friday.  You can go to the WKLH website and donate.

Trust  me, you will not regret it.

miracle marathon

11 May 2009 | By Carole in Uncategorized | No Comments Yet

Hey All,

It is time to get ready for the Miracle Marathon. We are already very excited and we have set out sights on having a great three day event.

If you have a story about Children’s Hospital that you would like to tell, feel free to e-mail us and we can read it during the Marathon.

If you can see it in your heart to donate please do.  We are so lucky to have this facility so close and ready whenever someone you know or love may need it. Please consider making a donation.  There is a link on the WKLH website.

Be a part of something really big.

Thanks,

Carole

relaxation

06 May 2009 | By Carole in Uncategorized | No Comments Yet

It was a great pleasure to be able to take the show north last week as we broadcast from the beautiful Sargento cheese factory.  It was a lot of fun and a little relaxing.  Yes, I said relaxing. Since it is a little bit of a drive we were able to make our way up on Thursday and spend the night at the Osthoff Resort in Elkart Lake.  If you have never been to Elkhart Lake, make a point to visit this summer.  I really believe I have found a new favorite place.

Elkhart Lake is a quiet little community with great resorts and great restaurants.  It is an easy drive and a really great way to decompress.  You can relax at the spa or you can golf, boat, ride bikes or just side and have a glass of wine or beer near a quaint little lake.  It is one of those vacations where you can just spend your time doing as much as you want. If you want to go, go, go you can. If you want to do nothing, you can. I prefer to take a little time and do nothing.

There are many different events and celebrations planned for the summer. It’s easy to find out about them just go the Elkhart Lake Chamber of Commerce website.  It’s all there. Why not give it a try.
